PetaFlop

Laszlo, Sergio and I were very busy with work coming into the last two weeks of the internship. However, we still found time to let off some steam. With great happiness I’d like to announce the formation of the first EVER Hardcore punk pop-rock HPC boyband.; PetaFlop. Step aside Justin Bieber!

Yeah…. we play our own instruments!

As a result of all three of us having very different tastes in music there has been much tension and unrest whenever lunch time conversation strayed toward the topic of music. Our first cross music-preference-clash occured as I played tunes on my laptop while forgetting that my headphones, which were in my ear, were not in fact attached to the computer by the other end. As the catchy tunes of Taylor Swift rapidly blast through the office, eruptious laughter came from Laszlo and Sergio. In particular this music did not contrast well to Sergio’s preferred hardcore music.

I was losing hope that we’d be able to finish our time in Ostrava with a memorable evening of singing Taylor swift in our underwear and drinking old cheap bottles of wine- work hard, play hard. But now we have a band- bands are definitely cool.

Members: 

Sergio “Skatrak” Afonso 

Sergio was born in Tenerife. He is 22 years old and has spent most of this time wearing black. Sergio is the heavy metal inspiration of the band. His cool attitude and badass nature have earned him the nickname “Skatrak”. I personally have learned a lot about music from Sergio; apparently Nickleback is not in fact heavy metal. On being asked whether he’d rather be stuck listening to Nickleback or Taylor Swift he replied that he’d “choose to be deaf”. All credit goes to Sergio for designing our album cover. Who needed to be constantly reminded to make it look HAPPIER Sergio! “I’m not seeing the ‘Taylor Swift’ in this album cover Sergio” -me. To which he replied “I have downloaded the butterflies!”.

Laszlo “Addy” Kovacs 

“Addy” is short for the word adventure. This nickname was ‘apparently’ bestowed on Laszlo by his friends for his adventurous nature. Funny, since we can’t even get him to go to lunch. This being said, Laszlo is the one with the vision for good music. He uses high tech Oculus rift to foresee trends in music fashion and his attached leap motion sensor to control the band’s catchy tunes.

Anthony “The Swift” Bourached 

I have earned the nickname of “The Swift” for insisting that we maintain a Taylor Swift style in our songs. This at first was not a popular idea but I believe in the long run it will make our band stronger. As the lead singer, I am completely unable to play any instruments (apart from the hearts of our countless fans of course) and rely entirely on my singing voice, which may be considered mediocre at best. Though I’m pretty sure that at least for our more hardcore songs I only need to scream in the most distressed way I can.
